Trump signed EO 14183, reinstating a ban on transgender military service

On January 27, 2025, President Trump signed Executive Order 14183, "Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness," reinstating a ban on transgender individuals serving openly in the U.S. military and rescinding a Biden-era policy that had permitted transgender enlistment and coverage of transition-related medical care. The order directed the Department of Defense to update medical enlistment and retention standards within 60 days, end pronoun accommodation based on self-identification, and require service members to use sleeping, changing, and bathing facilities corresponding to their sex assigned at birth.

On January 27-28, 2025, a Drug Enforcement Administration Group 22 task force agent identified only by the initials "B.K." used Palos Heights, Illinois police detective Todd Hutchinson's Flock automated license-plate- reader login to run 24 searches logged as "immigration violation" investigations. Illinois law bars using the state's license-plate-reader network for immigration enforcement.

Web3Port Foundation announced on January 27, 2025 that it had invested $10 million in World Liberty Financial (WLFI), the Trump family's crypto venture, days after Trump's inauguration. The New York Times reported in August 2026, based on blockchain analysis by Arkham Intelligence, that a Web3Port-controlled wallet had actually purchased $20 million in WLFI tokens that January. Web3Port is controlled by businessman Guren "Bobby" Zhou, who has been under an active United Kingdom money-laundering investigation since a March 2021 arrest, disclosed in UK court records made public in February 2024.
