U.S. Southern Command is the unified combatant command responsible for all U.S. military activities in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. It coordinates military operations, training, and security cooperation throughout the region. Beginning in late 2025, SOUTHCOM conducted a series of lethal counternarcotics strikes against drug trafficking organizations -- most notably the "Southern Spear" campaign targeting vessels in the eastern Pacific.
