Baltimore mayor's office and Development Corporation set up Fells Point ID checkpoints denying access without individualized suspicion
On July 24, 2026, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott's office, working with the quasi-public Baltimore Development Corporation, published guidelines requiring identification checks of everyone entering a designated "permit footprint" along Thames Street in the Fells Point nightlife district on Friday and Saturday nights through Labor Day. Private security personnel contracted by the Baltimore Development Corporation staffed the checkpoints and turned away anyone without ID, regardless of age.
