Monitoring sources

This is a public, curated list of the news and government sources Standing Record's automated monitoring scans on a regular basis. We publish it for transparency about where our leads tend to come from.

This list is not exhaustive, and it is not authoritative. It reflects the outlets our monitoring scans routinely — but it is not the limit of what we use. When we follow a specific story we draw on whatever reliable evidence exists: primary documents, court filings and dockets, agency releases, official records, and reporting from outlets that are not on this list. Inclusion here is not an endorsement of an outlet, and omission does not mean we won't cite a source. Every entry in the archive stands on its own cited sources, not on this page.

About this list

Sources are selected for national reach and editorial standards, for coverage of democracy, rights, and accountability issues, for transparency and public corrections practices, and for a mix of perspectives across mainstream news, government records, and civil-society watchdogs. Where an outlet has a documented bias or factual-rating caveat, we note it so the lead is weighed accordingly — and, as above, we corroborate any load-bearing claim against primary evidence before it enters the archive.

RSS feeds are listed where an outlet publishes one; for sources without a feed, or whose feed is unreliable, our monitoring works from the site and from date-scoped search instead. Feed availability changes over time, so a listed feed may occasionally lapse.

Suggest a source

Have a source you think Standing Record should monitor? Email the editor with the source name and URL, the kind of coverage it provides, and why it would help track democratic accountability. Suggestions are added after editorial review.

This list is public because Standing Record's credibility depends on transparency about where stories come from. For the current machine-readable list, see taxonomy/sources.yaml in the repository.
