Police Using License-Plate Camera Networks to Stalk

Officers across multiple states have used automated license-plate-reader networks — most often Flock Safety's — to track ex-partners, relatives, and other private individuals, in cases running from a handful of lookups to roughly six hundred. The searches were logged and later recoverable, but nothing in the systems stopped them at the time; the misuse surfaced through complaints and audits after the fact, not through controls that prevented it.
