DOJ anti-Christian bias task force published report urging federal realignment toward Christian religious-liberty claims

On April 30, 2026, the Presidential Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias published its report, "Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias and Restoring Religious Liberty." The task force was created by Executive Order 14202 in February 2025 and is chaired by Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. The report asserts that the prior administration's prosecutions, policies, and practices demonstrated pervasive anti-Christian bias across the federal government, documenting claimed instances at seventeen agencies including the Justice and Education departments and covering conscience rights, gender policy, vaccine mandates, and religious exemptions.

The report endorses realigning federal enforcement, hiring, and civil-rights priorities toward claims framed as Christian religious liberty, and it catalogs actions the administration has already taken on that basis, including rescinding a Biden-era school-board oversight memo, withdrawing prior interpretations of employment-discrimination law, and reversing enforcement actions such as prosecutions under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. Acting Attorney General Blanche said in the announcement that "no American should live in fear that the federal government will punish them for their faith."

Critics, including the Freedom From Religion Foundation and religious-liberty scholars, characterized the report as narrowly centered on conservative Christian positions on abortion and gender while treating a single faith's claims as the measure of federal religious-freedom policy. The report reframes federal civil-rights and religious-liberty enforcement around one religion and provides the stated basis for narrowing enforcement actions taken under existing civil-rights and access statutes.
